Google keep improving Quick pair, its technology for quick pairing of Bluetooth devices to improve the integration of our wireless headphones with the Android operating system.
After last April’s redesign and the expansion of compatibility to over 100 Bluetooth headphones, we now see that Google is testing an interesting novelty: display the remaining battery life
The shelf life in Fast Pair
Several users reported that Quick pair started to show how long the headset battery should last. Until now, it only showed the current battery percentage, but never made an estimate of the remaining time.
That way, when you see the device details, you’ll be able to know how much time each of your earbuds has left before shutting down, as Android has been telling you about its own battery for years.
It seems like this novelty is being testedbecause this new information is not available to all users. Additionally, it would only appear in Android 12 Beta and Pixel Buds, although one user claims to have seen this feature in their OnePlus Buds.
Since Fast Pair is a technology open to all manufacturers, it is to be expected that sooner or later all compatible headphones will start showing estimated battery life.
This new feature has yet to be announced by Google, so it could take a few months to officially release to the world. For example, in April of last year, it announced that with Fast Pair you can find your lost headset, a feature that arrived in August.
