At the end of 2021, Google Home released a remote to control devices and TVs with Android TV and Google TV. Then it improved its touch control and started to reach other operating systems for TVs with built-in Google Assistant, such as LG or Samsung TVs. NOW The Google Home remote is coming to Xbox
This is one of the novelties of the February update that Microsoft announced for its Xbox Series X and Series S. The new version 10.0.22621.3446 (xb_flt_2302ni.230208-1530) for the operating system of its consoles desktop adds this support in which Microsoft and Google have teamed up to make it possible.
This isn’t the first time Xbox has added compatibility with a Google product. Since 2019, it was already possible to control the Xbox via voice commands from the Google Assistant. Now Microsoft and Google are going even further by adding a touch control button so that we can control the console from the mobile screen.
With the new Google Home Controller for Xbox, you can turn the console on and off, navigate through its interface or control the reproduction of its multimedia content, among other options. The buttons located on the controller are power on/off, directional navigation, home navigation, rewind, play/pause, skip/previous, volume up/down, mute/unmute, and record game clip.
