Privacy is vital on our devices and you just have to see what Apple has besides its employees using Android to encrypt chats. The fact that our terminals are the space through which our lives pass makes this news more important, because Google is currently pressing the brake so that Android 13 to be a bit more private and difficult to hack.
Added alternatives for privacy
Currently Android offers a private DNS standard
But a new entry in the AOSP code has led to believe that will not introduce this new standard at this time in Android 13. And it has been mentioned as such that this change will not be implemented in the new major Android update which is expected to arrive in the fall.
For us to understand each other better, DoT and DoH are private DNS standards that they encrypt communications between our device and the DNS
The other big difference between these two standards is in the ports that everyone uses. And that is precisely what makes one more private than the other. DoT uses a dedicated port for DNS and DoH uses port 443, the same port used for HTTP traffic.
That is, all DNS traffic that occurs is merged with HTTPS when DoH is used, making monitoring and blocking DoH requests is a more complex process. In other words, DoH is more private than DoT.
Now, via XDA, We will have to wait another year for Android 14 This private DNS standard is coming and we know our devices are a little more secure and private.
