Google Messages is preparing to implement something that we’ve had in iMessage for years.
Latest Google Messages update gearing up for rollout a new way to handle message reactions in the style of iMessage. As reported 9to5Google, I found this information in the latest version of an app that Google downloaded from the Play Store.
This is something primarily aimed at the United States, since the use of messaging apps is quite common there. If in a conversation between an iPhone user and an Android user, the iPhone user reacts with a “like” emoji, Android user does not see the reaction, a message “I liked the picture” will appear.
Replying to messages in iMessage is very easy
Google Messages wants to look like iMessage
As reported from 9to5GoogleIt looks like Google Messages version 10.7 implemented a smarter way to deal with inbound reactions sent by iMessage users. That is to say, Google Messages would be able to interpret incoming reactions from iMessage and display them as an “emoji”.
In the latest Google Messages beta update, version 10.7, we found out that Google may be planning a smarter way to deal with inbound iMessage reactions.
Keep in mind that iMessage has different reactions, so Google will have to work on implementing them all. And we’ll see if they’re also able to come up with a similar solution to send this kind of feedback to iPhone users.
WhatsApp has also shown interest in this type of reaction to messages., which could happen very soon. Although Google Messages is trying to implement the iMessage style reactions, at the moment this is only something that is being tested in the beta versions of its plciaicon. There is no official confirmation or possible launch date for this new feature.
