The change in Spanish law allows Google News to enter the country, what will happen to Apple News?
Google has just made an important announcement: after 7 years Since leaving Europe, Google News is preparing to return in early 2022. This was made possible thanks to a change in Spanish legislation by the government, which implements the 2019 European Copyright Directive. The so-called “Iceta Loi” published today in the BOE allows Google to not have to pay any fees for publishing articles, so there is a free way to bypass the platform.
Google News returns to Europe and it does so with the promise of making deals with the country’s various media. Google says its platform “helps journalists and publishers gain more readers and generates valuable free traffic for them.” We understand that the Google News app will also be available again for iOS devices in Europe.

Now that the law allows Google News to return to Europe, And the alternative to the apple? Apple News has not yet spoken, but there is no longer a legal obstacle to reaching our country.
When will Apple News arrive in Europe?
While Apple News has free rein to launch into Europe, that doesn’t mean it will arrive anytime soon. Apple’s information service is one of the services that has made the least progress, despite were launched in 2015 with iOS 9.
Apple Music, Apple Pay, Apple Fitness +, all these services, however, quickly extended to all of Europe and to many other countries. Apple News remains anchored in its country of origin, and in other English-speaking countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia or Canada.
Even big countries like France or Germany don’t have Apple News available. So it seems clear that Apple does not intend to expand Apple News to new countriesConsidering the fact that your service requires agreements with local media and publications, this is not something that can be started overnight.
