The Android Dev Summit of 2022 is giving a lot. In addition to surprising us with Android 12L, Google has put forward several changes that will affect the Play Store and its associated services.
Some of these changes were already known to us, like the new privacy section which has been in the works for a long time, but did not have a specific arrival date. This date is confirmed, in addition to other details such as the no need to install Play Games to use the profiles or the reduced commission for streaming books and music.
The privacy section is coming in February
Following in the footsteps of Apple and its store, Google has long asked developers to report the data collected by each application. We already know how this information will be displayed to users, and developers have been able to fill in the information in the Google Play Console form for a long time, but we didn’t have a specific date when this information will start showing, beyond that. from “early 2022”.
Google has been a bit more specific now, announcing that Google Play’s new privacy section will be presented in February 2022 and developers will have until April 2022 to fill in the information and have it approved by Google. All applications must add this information, although Google will not be very strict in principle with those that do not arrive on time. In this case, the text “No information available” will be displayed.
Games API without Google Play Games
Google announced a new API to connect to Google Play Games that simplifies deployment, along with easier initial setup, without requiring the installation of Google Play Games.
In other words, if you don’t have Google Play Games on your mobile, you can continue to use the benefits of the service. Google announced that from 2022 Play Games services do not require the installation of the Google Play Games app nor any interaction on the part of the user.
