If you’re an Apple fan, 2023 has already been a great year. We had the new MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, a 15-inch MacBook Air, a Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra processor, and of course, the Apple Vision Pro headphones. But according to a new report, many more products are in the works.
Following the launch of the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9, and a new Apple Watch Ultra later this year, Mark Gurman reports in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple has many products in development for a released in 2024 and beyond, including several that use the M3 processor:
- 13-inch MacBook Pro (codename J504)
- 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro (codenamed J514 and J516)
- 24-inch iMac (codenamed J433 and J434)
- 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air (codenamed J613 and J615)
- 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (codenamed J717 and J720)
- iPad Air (code name J507)
None of this is surprising, but there is some interesting information. For one thing, they all hinge on the release of the M3 processor, which will likely arrive in early 2024. The M3 will be Apple’s first Mac processor built on a 3nm process and it will likely bring performance and architectural changes important that could impact the design and specifications.
Gurman isn’t sharing any new information about the updates other than that they will have M3 versions of the same M2 processors they have now. However, he notes that the iPad Pro will have OLED screens and that the iMac could offer a higher-end model with a screen “over 30 inches”.
Additionally, Gurman mentions several “early development” products with no release schedule. Among them are a 3rd generation version of the AirPods Pro and an updated Apple TV 4K with “upgraded specs”. In total, there are over a dozen new products in development, not including the Vision Pro line of helmets.
New home equipment such as smart displays are also in the works, which has been rumored for some time now. Previous reports have suggested that a device similar to Google’s new Pixel tablet could be on the way, complete with a magnetic docking station that lets it switch between a smart home device and a tablet.
