Google says implementing these ecosystem-wide changes will be a complex process and will require significant effort from the company and its partners, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and developers. Even so, Here are some key changes the company will bring to India:
- OEMs will be able to license individual Google apps to pre-install on their devices. In other words, they will no longer be required to pre-install the full suite of Google apps.
- Following in Europe’s footsteps, Indian users will have the ability to choose your default search engine through a choice screen that will soon appear when a user installs a new Android smartphone or tablet in India.
- Google updates Android compatibility requirements to introduce changes so partners can use it.Free devices with unsupported or derivative Android variants.
The billing at the user’s choice it will be available for all apps and games starting next month. With User Choice Billing, developers can offer users the option to choose an alternative billing system in addition to Google Play’s billing system when purchasing in-app digital content. This measure is also implemented in Europe.
With these changes, Google wants to comply with new Indian antitrust laws, which require the company to allow users to choose their search engine, developers to add their own billing systems or manufacturers to decide which Google applications to install by default on your device, making it even easier to install apps outside of the Play Store.
