WhatsApp continues to add functions to its instant messaging application, and this time it was the turn of a feature that has already been in development for some time, but now begins to be accessible to all the users.
This is the possibility of pin a message in a conversation, available both in individual or group chats. Yes, I know what you’re thinking: “it was already in that other messaging app”, and while that’s true, it’s also true that WhatsApp implemented this new feature in its own way
Messages pinned in conversations, but not forever
The message pinning feature, already available in the beta version of WhatsApp for some users, allows you to pin the desired message to the top of the screen. It’s possible repair written messages, media files (photos, GIFs and videos), surveys and even documents or files shared via the application.
However, the most important difference from how message pinning works in Telegram is that in WhatsApp pinned messages are not permanent, but rather They disappear after 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. The duration of the pinned post is chosen by the user pinning it.
Another difference is that in WhatsApp you can only post one message, while in Telegram you can post multiple messages in the same chat. The message posted on WhatsApp stays at the top of the screen
It is possible to unpin the message at any time, or replace it with another pinned message. The idea is always have this important message at hand in a conversation, thus saving the time needed to search for it.
In the case of WhatsApp groups, Admins can choose who can pin messages, whether all members of a group or only administrators. Of course, pinned messages are protected by end-to-end encryption, as are all messages on WhatsApp.
The pinning function has already started arriving in the latest update of WhatsApp for Android, so it will gradually be available to all users of the platform. This function joins other very interesting new features recently launched, such as secret codes to protect private chats, voice messages that self-destruct and the possibility of hiding your IP address.
