Here’s the inside of the MagSafe battery: two batteries in one

. What does this bring positive? Mainly they offer more capacity than just 1,460mAh (the official capacity of the product called Apple), but that’s not the only thing.

The first thing to keep in mind is that ** this Apple accessory only works with the iPhone 12 range ** and is available in Apple stores in Europe for 109 dollars. This is important to know in case you want to get some and you don’t have an iPhone 12.

Now the ChargerLab YouTube channel video completely disassembled this laptop battery. In the video you can see how complex it was to do all the disassembly, it lets us know that – like most Apple products – the components are well organized, which guarantees a quality product. Therefore, it is not recommended to try it at home, as it may damage the MagSafe battery.

During the presentation of the product – and its box – Apple only revealed the capacity of this 1460mAh battery. However, thanks to this disassembly it was possible to know that inside there is a large coil used to sense the distance between the iPhone and the battery. In addition, there is another thin coil which acts as an NFC antenna (which is responsible for telling the iPhone which accessory is connected).

You can also see some metal shields that protect components and improve heat dissipation

. Behind it all is a two-cell battery (like in the initial image) that looks exactly like the batteries used in iPhones. This is because having two cells combined allows the MagSafe battery to provide more capacity than just 1,460 mAh.
