It was one of the surprises of the keynote speech Last year: In the midst of the iPhone 15 announcement, new iCloud+ storage plans were unveiled for all those for whom the 2TB maximum we had until then was not enough. From then on, you could rental packages with 6 or even 12 TB of space.
Barbarism? Maybe. But there are iCloud accounts shared with family that could help fill up all those TBs effortlessly. Apple recently updated the terms and conditions of iCloud+, so it’s worth checking out the news. Let’s see How much do these packages cost?
You won’t miss out on that much space…if you pay what it costs.
Even with this change, one thing remains the same: Free iCloud space is still 5GB. Personally, this seems like a small thing to me, and in fact, Apple is currently fac ing a class action lawsuit for even offering alternatives to its own service.
If you think about it, 5 GB is enough for a holiday video recorded in 4K HDR for just 30 minutes. We are talking about an increasingly limited space in an age of ubiquitous storage, with which there is normally no possibility to save neither the iPhone backup nor the photos in the cloud.
iCloud+ Pricing in 2024
As can be seen on the official website, here are the new iCloud+ extension prices at the end of 2024, with no increase since their presentation:
- iCloud+ with 50 GB: 0.99 dollars per month
- iCloud+ with 200 GB: 2.99 dollars per month
- iCloud+ with 2TB: 9.99 dollars per month
- iCloud+ with 6TB: 29.99 dollars per month
- iCloud+ with 12TB: 59.99 dollars per month
The prices in dollars of the two new packages maintain the euro-dollar parity, so this is good news for Spanish users in particular and European users in general.
Apple says these storages are focused on “Users with large photo or video libraries, or those using En Familia”The ability to hire them should be available starting next Monday, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a few more days to propagate to all users worldwide.
