iOS 17.4 will arrive in a few days and will bring excellent news to the European territory to comply with the Digital Markets Law. However, along the way this new update has left gems in its code such as references to homeOS, a possible new operating system, and to a new device compatible with a possible HomePod with screen. Even if the first rumors reported this new HomePod for 2024, a new report published a few hours ago specifies that this new HomePod with screen will not arrive, at the earliest, until 2025.

Have Apple’s plans been delayed?

HomePod with screen postponed to 2025

Apple guru Mark Gurman has released new information on a product that has been on everyone’s lips in recent years: a HomePod with a screen. And since its launch in 2018, we’ve heard that Apple was working on a product that would control all home automation similar to the HomePod but with a screen. Throughout these years we have received little nuggets of information such as the homeOS operating system in the iOS beta code or codes for new products working with operating systems not officially available.

Gurman’s new report notes that This HomePod won’t arrive until 2025 at the earliest, information that differs from everything we had heard so far and which pointed to this new product in 2024. Apple seems to have started the design work and the choice of suppliers but according to the analyst, it is still “We need to make enough progress”

to be able to plan the launch.

Remember that the device itself would be a mix between a Apple TV, a HomePod and the screen of an iPad mini which could adhere to the same structure. This product would therefore have the functions of the speaker to which would be added a touch screen which would make it possible to control the user’s home automation products or interact with Siri.
