How to Change iPhone Vibration
Think of iPhone vibrations as personalized ringtones or alert tones, for different people or apps. This is ideal for situations where you don’t want your phone to make noise, but you still want to be notified of a call and also know who it is from without looking at the screen. Just like ringtones, You can choose different vibrations for different situations on your phone. Here’s what you need to do, let’s see it step by step:
- First touch the section settings on your phone.
- Now press Sounds and vibrations.
- On iPhone 6S and earlier, the menu is called Sounds.
- To change the vibration when you receive an incoming call, Click Ringtone
- Press the Vibrating section.
- You can choose the values Default vibrations: standard, synchronized or none.
- This sets the same vibration for all incoming calls.
Like ringtones, you can set a different vibration for different people. This way you will know who is calling simply by its vibration. Follow the steps to assign a personalized vibration to a specific person. Follow the following steps that I show you below:
- You will first need to go to Contacts
- Search and select contact to which you want to give a personalized vibration
- In the press contact Edit and scroll down to where it says ringtone.
- Once in this menu, search for Vibration and choose the vibration pattern What would you like to say to said contact?
- And that would be it.
You can customize your vibration settings by following the same steps for messages, new emails, calendar alerts, and reminder alerts.
You can also choose whether vibrations play when your iPhone is in sound mode, silent mode, or both. Sound mode is when the left side switch (or the new iPhone 15 button) is set to play the ringtone and alerts. Silent mode mutes ringtones and alerts.
Apple gives us the possibility of changing these settings in the options we have in Settings, in Sounds and Vibrations.

As for ringtones, iPhone comes with a set of predefined vibration patternsbut you can also create your own custom templates. So, like I said, you can identify which app the notification is coming from or which person is calling you.

A question many users have is whether they can make the iPhone vibrate louder, and actually you can’t. However, as I showed, you can choose a different vibration pattern, with longer or more frequent vibrations, depending on your needs, so you can notice them in your pants pocket.
And if you like someone or match your preferences, just create one.
