By default the pictures we take with our iPhone, as well as many other cameras, are stored, that is, details of the location they were taken from are added. This information is very useful, over time, creating albums, memories and making photos in our photo library organized, not only in a temporary order, but also in places.
However, and especially when we want to share these photos with other people, this information may be considered private. Fortunately, Apple offers it ways to remove it from photos.
Remove geolocation in Preview
An easy way to remove location information from an image Use the preview app installed on all Macs. The steps to do so are as follows:
- We open the image in question in Preview. If necessary, we click on it (Right) and use the slider Open with to select a preview.
- Press the Command key combination (⌘) + i
- We add a second tab, marked smaller i inside the circle
- We include the GPS tab below.
- We click Delete location information.
- We close the preview.
As soon as we close the app the changes will be saved with the same image.
Remove geolocation from photos
We can also use the Photos app to get rid of geolocation details. In this case we have two options, we can hide the location of one or more images within the app itself or send items from our photo library without entering location information.
Hide location for individual items
If we only want to delete the location data for each image, without leaving the photo library, the steps we will follow are the following:
- We open the app Pictures.
- We select the photos or photos that we wish to hide.
- On the menu Picture we set the mouse Location and then we click Hide location.
That's easy, too at any time we want to recover the availability of these items is as easy as selecting them in the same menu Picture section Location click Back to the original location.
Send photos without location data
Another option send items to the photo library without any details gallery of various images. In this case we will do the following steps:
- We open the app Pictures.
- We select the image or images we want to extract.
- On the menu Archive section Send we choose Send X photos …
- Uncheck the option Location details.
- We're playing Send.
- We select a location and press again Send.
All photos and videos we export in this way they will do so without substituting where they were taken.
Simple. The next time we need to delete an image's location information or want to read it without entering that information we will know that both from the preview application and from the photo app we can do it easily and quickly. Does anyone guess the location of the image in the preview section? Surprise me in the comments.
