Many applications have access to our location. This is an important function to be able to perform certain functions, from ordering food at home to, of course, using the cell phone as a navigation tool to move around the city, whether at on foot, by car or on public transport.
But in the case of those of us who are constantly trying many new apps or have installed lesser-known games and apps, it is prudent occasionally check which apps have access to our real-time location and, more importantly, limit access to apps we don’t want to have. Fortunately, the process for doing this is very simple.
It is important to know which applications have access to our location
Limiting the apps that have access to our location allows us toProtect our privacy and protect us. It is not the same that an application like Google Maps has access to our position in real time than another less known application, especially if it is a game or something like an application to download wallpapers. Why do you need our location?
On the other hand, it is also important keep the mobile tracking system active at all times, which can be very useful in case of loss of the mobile phone, and since applications like Maps itself or any navigation application require this connection to function correctly.
That said, let’s see how to know in the quickest and easiest way which applications have access to our location:
- We access the mobile quick settings screen by swiping down from the top of the screen.
- We maintain the Location icon.
This shortcut This will take us directly to the location screen, without having to go to the settings menu and scroll through its options. On this screen we have several options.
We will be able to see the applications that have recently had access to our location, and by selecting an application from this list we will be able to choose specifically What type of authorization do we grant you?: permission to access the location with the application used, always ask before accessing the location or do not allow access to the location, to limit it completely.
In this way we have more precise control how and when you will access our location.
On the same screen you can click on “Application permissions” (an option also called “Application location permissions”, depending on the mobile). In this section we will find all the applications that have access to our location, either permanently or only during use.
We can review the entire list and remove permissions from the apps we want. If you see an app that’s suspicious, or one that you think doesn’t need to know where you are when you use it, you can permanently remove its permissions, for greater privacy. This is a better option instead of disabling the mobile location feature.
