Although you can open WhatsApp in four places at the same time, in Telegram there is no limit and on top of that there are tons of official and unofficial Telegram apps. With time it is possible lose track of where you are logged in, but luckily the app lets you control it much more easily.
Leaving the Telegram session open on a mobile or PC that is not under your control means that another person could see almost all of your chats, but luckily you only need Telegram on your mobile to manage open sessions, shutting them down or limiting what they can or cannot do, among other options.
Connect with the QR code
When managing open Telegram sessions, we usually want to close sessions that are already open, but we can also use the same section to easily open a new session with a QR code. This has been possible for a long time, although it was made easier with the button Pair a desktop device of the latest version.
That is, when you want to log into Telegram on another device, instead of verifying your identity with an SMS code or a call, you can scan a qr code. This option, along with the rest of the options we will see below, can be found in the telegram settings, in the section Devices.
Disconnect everywhere
If you’ve been using Telegram for a few years, it’s possible that open sessions have gotten out of hand, to the point that you can’t remember which is which. If you don’t feel like checking open devices, a quick way to do that is to use the button Close all other sessions
As the name suggests, after pressing the button, the current session will be maintained on the mobile you are using, but will be disconnected from all other devices. Since Telegram is cloud-based, that doesn’t mean losing all chat on other devices – you’ll be able to access it again after you log back in.
Configure active sessions
If in the list of active sessions you find one that you no longer use – for example, your old mobile that you left with your cousin – you can still touch it to Sign out
The curious thing is that from this same screen, you can limit whether a Telegram session can accept calls and accept secret chats, which is active by default. Even if you turn it off, you can still make calls from this device, but the difference is, when they call you, the call will not ring on it.
Automatically close inactive sessions
A very interesting option of Telegram sessions can be found at the bottom of the settings screen: automatically disconnect. It cannot be disabled and the default setting is 6 months.
That is to say the sessions which have not been used during this period will be closed, you will have to reconnect after this period. The options are 1 week, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.
