My 20 -year -old child did not like this when they hit “excited” in an SMS on their iPhone, iOS seemed automatically to apply a training effect, part of all of the somewhat useless text effects that Apple added in iOS 18, iPados 18 and MacOS 15 Sequoia. When I test this, I see suggestions for certain words in the quick bar where other suggestions appear. However, my older child makes them fall – something that other people have complained in online forums since the introduction of functionality.
There is a way to deactivate this in iOS and iPados. Not, unfortunately, with a marked switch of the deactivated text effects. Instead, go to Parameters > General > Keyboardscroll towards All keyboardsand deactivate Predictive text. This deletes all attempts to provide options according to your typing, although it does not deactivate the often inactive automatic correction, which you can deactivate in the same section.

It was rare that Apple would not force us new features that we did not expect, like a spider falling from a ceiling on our clothes. The effects of little useful text should have a way to prevent their insertion or suggestion, leaving them to people who want to explicitly use them.
