The other day at Las Charlas de Applesfera, I was talking with my colleague Pedro Aznar about WWDC23, future operating systems, and more. One of the things we discussed was iOS 17, and at one point Pedro asked me what I personally wanted from the next iOS. I was pretty clear. This is something I’ve been saying since I can remember: decrease minimum brightness.
I explained in Las Charlas that there are times when the minimum iPhone brightness is still high, at least for me. Some viewers in the comments agreed with me.
If Apple doesn’t, we do
If you also think that sometimes the minimum brightness is not low enough and you want a way to bypass it temporarily, your solution is called “reduce the white point” and it’s in your iPhone settings.
This is not the definitive solution, but it is a good alternative
For this you go Settings on your phone. Then scroll down to find the section Accessibility. Once there, click Screen and text size. Scroll down until you come across the option “reduce white point” and activate it. Finally, you will notice how the screen brightness will drop a bit, even if you thought you had it at minimum. In addition, you will see a small bar to further intensify this reduction.
This is a good solution for times when you need less brightness than the default, the minimum is included. Obviously this solution is neither ideal nor final, but as long as Apple does not allow you to do otherwise, do we have.
This, yes, remember to turn off the option when you are done. It would not be the first time that this editor has worried because even with high brightness the screen is very dark, only to remember later that this option was activated.
