There are many ways to connect mobile to computer and many more ways to view mobile screen on computer. Some of them involve you installing a specific application on both the mobile and the PC, and sometimes the result is not very good. One of the best options is also one of the easiest.scruple.
Scrpy is a lightweight tool for viewing and controlling Android phone via USB without root. It stands out compared to other similar alternatives in that it is very light, has low latency, good image quality and it leaves you with nothing installed on the mobile when done. We explain how to use it.
1. Download the scenario
To use Scrpy, you will need Scrpy. The good news is that it’s free, open source, and compatible with computers with Windows, Mac and Linux. Depending on the operating system you have on your PC, the way to download Scrpy is to download the file normally (on Windows) or install it from the command line:
-
And Windows: You can download the Windows 32-bit or 64-bit version of the scrpy package from Github.
-
on macOS: use the command
brew install scrcpy(in Homebrew) or sudo port install scrcpy (in MacPorts) -
In Linux: use the command
apt install scrcpy(in Debian or Ubuntu) opacman -S scrcpy(in Arch Linux)
2. Enable USB Debugging
With Scrpy ready on mobile, it’s time to prepare the mobile. The minimum requirements of the tool are quite affordable, as it requires you to use Android 5.0 or higher versions, being compatible with Android 13 as well.
There is not much to do. You just need to enable Android Developer Options and within them enable usb debuggingsince that is the mechanism Scrpy uses to operate.
3. Connect the mobile to the PC with a cable
The next step is the simplest: connect the mobile to your computer with a cable. Make sure if possible that it is a quality cable, so that it does not disconnect if you manipulate the mobile while it is connected, in which case the connection will be lost.
If this is the first time you connect the mobile with its cable to the PC with active USB debugging, the mobile request permission to enable debugging USB with this computer. You must grant such permission or Scrpy will not work. If you are going to use it frequently, you can check the box to always allow this device.
4. Tree Scrpy
Now comes the funniest part. Go to the Scrpy folder and run scrpy. The tool takes care of connecting via ADB to the mobile, sending and opening the server file necessary for its use and executing it. All this, in seconds.
If everything went well, you will see a window with your mobile screen, with the advantage that it works quite well and in many cases you can also control the mobile using the keyboard and mouse. When you’re done, close the app and that’s it.
Running Scrpy without commands is sufficient in most cases, but the tool has a large number of command line parameters to perform tasks such as change the number of frames per second or make a screen recording. You can see all available commands with scrpy --help or on GitHub.
