Announced last May, the latest update of Google maps for Android already activates its new statistics which will offer us interesting information on our routes and sites visited.
This is a new tab that we will now find in the Google Maps timeline, so to see these stats we will need to enable the Google Maps location history.
How to display your statistics on Google Maps
To see the new Google Maps statistics, all you have to do is click on your profile picture in the search bar and go to the section “Your timeline”. There you will find the new tab Statistics.
In this new tab you will be able to consult the monthly statistics with your routes, showing the distance and time for each type of trip (on foot, by car, by motorbike, by bicycle, by public transport, by plane). For example, you will be able to see how much you walked in a certain month.
The new section also shows you statistics with your visits, indicating the number of sites and the time you spent each month in restaurants, shopping, in museums, in hotels, etc … In addition, you can see the complete list of sites visited by clicking on “View sites “in each Category.
In the section of ‘Highlighted’ the new section of Google Maps that you will see the day you visited the most sites and which day you traveled more than any other day of the month.
By default Google Maps displays statistics for the current month but you can change the month by clicking on the date to select a year and a month, or use its arrows to go back or forward the month.
