Our Mac contains thousands of files, ranging from those that allow system efficiency to photos we have in the app Pictures or emails we send with them Email. Large most of these files are visible but there is something hidden.
Asking our Mac to show or hide hidden files is very easy, we'll do it with the app Signal.
A little interpretation
The first command we will use is called default and is used to change default settings (in English the default) from our Mac. We make it clear that we want to write, that is to write, or change some behavior. After that we indicate which configuration file we want to convert, in this case com.apple.Finder that does not belong to the app Finder. Now we explain what kind of behavior we want to address, in this case AppleShowAllFiles which we can interpret as AppleShowsAll files. In the penultimate action it specifies that the value to be corrected is a Boolean, that is, the integer only yes either no. Finally we define the number a YES either No. it depends on what we want.
The second command we will use kill that means tattoos which allows disconnect active processes. The process we complete in this case Finder thus causing it to restart, read it again, and then start showing or hiding hidden system files.
How to show hidden files
- We open the app Signal which we will find inside the folder Othersinside Applications (we can use it again Watching).
- We copy and paste it without quotes: "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool YES".
- Press Enter (↩︎).
- The following we copy and paste it without quotes: "kill Finder".
- Press Enter (↩︎).
The Finder app will disappear for a moment and when it appears again it will show all the hidden system files. If in time we want to hide them again just repeat the steps In the past, for this second step we will use "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool NO".
It's that simple. With these two commands we can detect or hide hidden program files.
