- Make sure your old iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth is turned on.
- Turn on your new iPhone and place it near your old one.
- A message will appear on your old iPhone to set up the new iPhone.
- Follow the instructions to set up your Wi-Fi password and Face ID.
- Choose to transfer data directly from your old device.
- Keep devices close to each other and plugged into a power outlet if they are low on battery until the data migration process is complete. This process may take several minutes.
iCloud
This function Restore a backup you have in iCloud from your old iPhone to your new one. The cool thing about this feature is that if you buy a new iPhone and don’t have enough iCloud storage to back it up, you can get temporary iCloud storage to transfer data from the current device to the new one.
You can create this temporary backup from your old iPhone by going to Settings > General > Transfer or reset > Prepare your new > Get started. If you see the message “iCloud Backup is turned off,” tap to turn on the backup. Once the backup is complete, you can now turn on the new iPhone and follow these steps:
- Turn on the new iPhone, a welcome screen will appear.
- Follow the steps until the Apps & Data screen appears.
- Tap Restore with iCloud Backup.
- Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID and password.
- Select the most recent iCloud backup.
- Wait for your data restoration to complete.
Backup to a PC or Mac
Finally, we have the most classic option: backup our iPhone to a Windows PC or Mac and restore this backup to the new iPhone. This is ideal if you don’t want to use iCloud or don’t have a good internet connection.
The first step is make a backup of our old iPhone on your computer by following these steps:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer or Mac and tap “Trust This Computer.”
- Open Finder on your Mac or the Apple Devices app on your PC. If your PC doesn’t have the Apple Devices app, or if your Mac is running macOS Mojave or earlier, open iTunes.
- Click General in the Apple Devices app or Summary in iTunes.
- Click Save Now.

- Now tap on “Restore from Mac or PC”.

- Open an Apple Devices, iTunes, or Finder window on your computer.
- Select Restore Backup and select the previously made backup.
- Wait for the restoration process to complete.
