It is possible that sometimes you will notice a picture with a text in a language you don't understand, but you want to know what this text means. Fortunately, our Android phone can help you a lot, as we can translate the text of the image we saw directly on the phone, or in the photo we saved.
To able to translate image text on Android, we can use a few other apps that users have installed on their smartphones. From this process we can use both Google (Google Translate) and Google Lens. We show you how to do this.

If you want to translate a word or phrase quickly into Android, use voice commands to translate it with Google Assistant.
Using Google translator
For a while now, Google translator chances to upload photos or take one at a time. Thanks to this function, it is possible to translate text of any image, directly from the Android phone. The good thing is that it could be a photo we already took and saved, or something we saw at the time. The steps to translate this way are:
- Open Google translator on your phone.
- Click on Camera.
- If you want to take a photo, click the summary.
- If you want to upload an image, click Import at the bottom of the screen.
- Take a photo or upload a photo.
- Select the text to translate.
- Select the language you want to translate.
In a matter of seconds you have on the screen a translation of this text in your own language. So you can know what the text means without a problem. It's a task that can be useful in many cases, especially if you're in a foreign country and don't speak the local language.
How to translate languages using the camera without installing programs
Imagine that you have a poster for another language and want to translate it over the phone immediately. Install app? You don't need to.
Using Google Lens
Google Lens is another application that we can use on Android when translating text, and that works when translating image text. If you have this app installed on your mobile phone, you can use it in this kind of environment, in a very convenient way, because it has the advantage that its use is very easy.

If it's a photo in the gallery
If you already have one the image in question is saved on your phone, you can translate this text using Google Lens. To do this, you will need to open the image in question using this application. Steps to follow are:
- Open Google Lens on the phone.
- Click the Landscape icon in the upper right.
- File folder opens.
- Select an image to upload.
- Select the text you want to translate from that image.
- Click the translation icon.
- Wait until you get that version.

Google Translate is a powerful tool that lets you translate into multiple languages. But that's not the end of the service, which shows you other options.
If you don't have that picture on the phone / Live
Another condition is that it is not a picture you have on your phone that you have saved, but you see something then and want to be able to interpret it. Google Lens also lets you translate live image text, using your Android phone. The steps to do this are:
- Open Google Lens on your phone.
- Point to the camera in the picture.
- Click the translation icon, in the bottom left.
- Wait for the text in your language to appear on the screen.
When we use this method, text in our language (Spanish in this case), indicated reduced to original text. So where there was another language before, Korean in the context of this example, now the definition in Spanish comes straight out. Another easy way to use on Android.
