If we talk about the most popular Android apps, the Gmail app is up there. It is not for nothing that it is installed by default on the vast majority of mobile phones sold in Europe and is the most used free messaging service on the Internet. And there are good reasons for this, because for many people it is the best alternative, even surpassing paid apps.
All thanks to the large number of functions that Google has implemented in Gmail. For example, it is an ideal service to avoid spam, thanks to its algorithms capable of detecting the latest trends among fraudsters. It also has smart features like autocomplete or autoresponses, which more and more people are using every day to save time.
However, it is nonetheless true that Gmail is not perfect; In fact, Google may have focused too much on these types of advanced features and you forgot some basic functions that all apps have. Like for example the possibility of selecting all emails at the same time.
It seems strange that Google would drop something so simple, but the reality is that until now Gmail didn’t have an easy way to select all emails from a search. For example, if we wanted to select all the emails that contained a specific word, we had no choice but to click on each one, a very time-consuming task if we had dozens of emails related to the subject sought.
Fortunately, a member of the Gmail development team seems to have noticed this bug, and New “Select All” option now reaches all users; It doesn’t matter which version of the app you are using because apparently the change was made at the server level and therefore it should work on all phones that have Gmail installed and running.
The new option is very simple. First, we need to search for what we want, like a term, a name or an email address. Gmail will display all emails that contain what we searched for. Then we need to select any email from the list, hold it down.
We will see a new option at the top, called “Select All”; As the name suggests, if we select it, all the emails in the list will be selected and we can do whatever we want with them. We can delete them all at once, mark them as read or unread, put labels on them, mark them as important or even mark them all as spam.
