The recent models of Apple Watch – the 8 series and later, to be precise – are equipped with a temperature sensor. This may seem useful for various health endings, but in practice, there are limits. One of them is that you cannot just ask your Apple Watch to measure your body temperature right away. Let's see what's going on.
If you open the health application on your iPhone and press Go through > Corporal measurements You will notice that wrist temperature trends are given in terms of “basic line” variance. In the screenshot below, for example, it is “-0.3 ° C of the basic line”. Very interesting, but what happens if you want to know the absolute temperature rather than the quantity or standard / average / average reading?

Fortunately, this information is available, and it is relatively easy to find – you just need to go through a few menus. Scroll down on the temperature screen of the illustrated wrist above to find a head options section. Press the labeled option Display all dataAnd you will see a long list of dates and hours when the watch has measured your temperature. Press one of these and you will see an absolute temperature reading: in this case, for January 11, 2025, the reading is 36.37 ° C (97.47 ° F).

Alternatively, you can look on the Apple Watch itself. Open the settings and scroll down until you start to see a list of applications ordered in alphabetical order (probably starting with activity and the app store). Find health in this list and press.
Now type Health data > Corporal measurements > Wrist temperature. You will see a list of temperatures recorded, starting with the most recent. In the screenshot below, you can see that the absolute temperature the last time I took a reading was, once again, 36.37 ° C.

Why can't I take my temperature now?
There are more limits than this could be worth mentioning. The Apple Watch temperature sensor is not the equivalent of a digital thermometer, something you can use to do a punctual check at any time. Instead, you need your temperature at a time of your choice while you sleep. Thus, when we seek the data using the above method, it is still not possible to determine your temperature right away. Whatever information you find, it will probably take at least a few hours.
In addition, the Apple Watch is quite special to have a sufficiently large sample. It will not be enough to put the watch for the sleep of this evening, then to look forward to the data tomorrow morning; Instead, you have to wear the Apple Watch for a few consecutive weeks before the results begin to appear. If you wondered why the first screenshot of this article shows the trends during the first half of 2024, when my Apple Watch has a read of January 2025, it is because this unique reading is not enough for the satisfaction of the Apple Watch. If I try to scroll through the graph to the right, he says that it takes more data.

Apple Watch's temperature sensor is designed to monitor long -term trends rather than single moments. But it is possible that Apple allows the watch to show temperature readings in the future. The crossed fingers.
