Eight months have passed since Huawei introduced the first model in the Huawei Nova 8 series – the Nova 8 SE – and new variants are still arriving. The latest is the Huawei Nova 8i, a mid-range with an interesting design and Fast charge 66W.
The design of the Huawei Nova 8i has little to do with the other models in its series, more in line with the Huawei Mate 30, with the characteristic centered circular camera module. To have Snapdragon 662 and a lot of RAM.

Screen with few borders and very fast loading
Other Huawei Nova 8s have taken the screen to the limit with the use of curved edges. This is a flat screen on the Huawei Nova 8i, although the side edges have also been reduced considerably. According to Huawei’s measurements, the top frame and sides barely protrude the 1.3 mm. The chin of the terminal is more pronounced.
It is an LCD screen with 6.67 inches diagonal and Full HD + resolution. The refresh rate is the usual 60Hz, although it increases the touch response to 180Hz. Also according to Huawei’s measurements, the screen makes up 94.7% of the entire front panel.
This screen includes a double perforation although it has a front camera of a lens and 16 megapixels. Huawei does not at any time explain what is in the other “hole”, although given the small margin at the top, it is possible that it is the proximity and brightness sensor.
Behind, the Huawei Nova 8i has a symmetrical design with the circular module for the camera centered. They are four lenses in total: the main one of 64 megapixels, a wide angle of 8 megapixels, a macro sensor of 2 megapixels and a portrait mode sensor of 2 megapixels.
On board the Huawei Nova 8i is the Snapdragon 662 Last year. It’s not the most avant-garde, but we already know that Huawei doesn’t have many options in this regard given the US veto. It comes with plenty of RAM, 8GB, and 128GB of storage.
With a battery capacity of 4,300 mAh, a strong point of the Huawei Nova 8i is that it supports Fast charge 66W, a fairly generous amount given that it is technically a mid-range. The fingerprint reader is on one of its sides.
Huawei Nova 8i versions and prices
Huawei has so far presented the Huawei Nova 8i in Malaysia, where it is available in three colors: white, blue and black. With a single 8 + 128 GB configuration, its price is 1,299 ringgits, 264 dollars to change. It is not known if Huawei will launch it in other markets under this name or another.
