Although it is a coronavirus, which has forced many brands to delay their launch events, Huawei has kept the date fixed refresh your P series. A few days ago, we met the family's youngest, Huawei P40 Lite, but today was when, with the launch announcement, the Chinese company introduced the new P40 to the public.
And we say it in abundance because this year Huawei introduced less than three new models: Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro +. To all, let's stop at least moderately, P40, which achieves the P30 achievement and does so by sharing several features with its older brothers. Let's see it in detail.

Lots of power, but without GMS
The new Huawei P40 produces a 6.1 inch screen with 2,340 x 1,080 pixels for resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate and a 19.5 aspect ratio: That panel is also reduced to the frames from the previous model and has a smart pill-shaped feature to include the front camera. In addition, it has a blended fingerprint reading area that has increased its sensitivity and reading speed by 30%.
As a concept, it carries the Kirin 990 processor – the house version – which in this model is compatible with 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage and the latest version of the Huawei customization. EMUI 10.1 is based on Android 10.
Unlike its predecessor, the P30, with Google services and installed apps, the new P40 comes with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). In this way, the App Gallery app has appeared, which has expanded its catalog in recent months, Huawei Video, which already has 50,000 titles, and Huawei Music, which will be arriving soon and will be free within the first three months of receiving Huawei Phone.
The other material of this phone, which has an IP53 resistance certificate, is yours 3,800 mAh battery compatible at a fast charge. As for connectivity options, it supports 5G NSA / SA networks and has Dual SIM functionality, eSIM support, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC.
Three more flexible sensors
As is typical for the Huawei P family, this generation's photo segment is one of its strengths. If we start with the front camera of the new P40, it has 32 megapixel sensor and infrared sensor and can record 4K video at 60 fps.
In the background, we have a triple camera made: 50 megapixel RYYB sensor 1 / 1.28 ”aperture and f / 1.9 aperture, 16-megapixel wide-angle f / 2.2 equal to 17 mm and RYYB 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f / 2.4, focal length the focus is equal to 80 mm and a good closeup of 3x.
That optical lens, which is visually designed, combines Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) with Artificial Intelligence-assisted Stabilizer (AIS) to make the jitter inactive while zooming in while taking photos or recording videos. It also has a new way of focusing, it's called Octa PD Autofocus, which incorporates phase detection files for faster clicks and even lower light.
Huawei P40 price and availability
The new Huawei P40 will be available in one configuration 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage inside. It will be enhanced in three colors by finishing off gloss (Ice White, Black and Deep Blue Blue) and two by matte finish (Silver Frost and Blush Gold).
As confirmed by the company itself, the Huawei P40 will sell for a a total of 799 euros starting April 7th.
