Perhaps the most common thing is the lack of space on the iPhone, although there are also those of us who are lucky enough to have lots of extra storage without knowing what to spend it on. There is simply nothing we can do. In the end, nothing will happen and it is always good to have it in case of the unexpected.
However, a few months ago I found emulators a great way to invest excess space. Yes, in game console emulators for iPhone, those that were banned by Apple for years and finally ended up allowing them a few months ago. And not only in alternative stores for iOS in Europe, but also in the App Store. And here I leave you those which, for me, are the best.
Delta, the undisputed king and accessible to all
When it comes to emulating Nintendo retro game consoles, I definitely have to talk about the Delta emulator. There is the possibility of emulating MES, Super NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. Ideal for classic games from the Japanese developer.
This open source emulator does not take up much space on its own, unlike games. It’s not outrageous, but it’s something to keep in mind. In any case, it allows you to store games in the cloud with iCloud, so this could be ideal even if you have little free space on the iPhone’s internal memory.
Delta can be downloaded in the European Union through the AltStore, which was the first unofficial alternative store for iPhone and also when Apple started allowing them on our continent. However, if you live outside Europe it will be even easier because in the rest of the territories it is available for free in the App Store.
RetroArch, the classic already essential on iOS
If you’re an emulation enthusiast, you probably know more than enough about RetroArch. It is not for nothing that it is one of the best-known and oldest open source emulators. It was launched almost 15 years ago and is available on macOS, Linux, Windows or Android. However, it was only recently that it finally came to iOS.
It is possible to download it completely free in the App Store worldwide. With it we will download an excellent emulator of dozens of dozens of video game consoles. Some stand out, like those from Nintendo mentioned above, as well as the classics from SEGA, the first PlayStation or even the legendary Atari arcade machines.
iMSX2, pure nostalgia even for those of us who didn’t live through the MSX years
I recognize that, despite my addiction to these emulators, it is not that I am an expert on the subject. So I didn’t know about IMSX2 until my colleague Isra Fdez interviewed its creator, Enrique Enguix. And beyond the powerful story of this Spanish developer, the truth is that IMSX2 is very good.
Like the previous one, it can be downloaded from the App Store for 1.99 dollars. It’s not that it’s expensive, but if you’re still hesitant to pay, in my opinion I’ll tell you that it’s well worth it. emulate classic MSX games. Because yes, RetroArch already does it, but the IMSX2 interface in this sense seems much more attractive to me.
