Last week, Samsung held its second Unpacked event of the year, where they have been taking advantage of the opportunity to renew their range of foldable smartphones for some time now. On this occasion, the protagonists were the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 (courtesy of the expected Galaxy Ring) and Samsung just announced a special edition of the Z Flip6 which I completely fell in love with.
At the time I analyzed the first Galaxy Z Flip with some skepticism. A year later I was tasked with analyzing the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 and, although it convinced me a little more, I still didn’t consider having a foldable phone as my personal cell phone.
Samsung’s best foldable, dressed as Doraemon
Special edition cell phones are quite common in Asia. We’ve seen smartphones themed after Dragon Ball, Naruto, and even Sailor Moon. I admit they make me laugh and some have very neat designs, but without a doubt I haven’t fallen in love with any other product like the Doraemon Special Edition. of the Galaxy Z Flip6.
It was one of the ones Doraemon watched when she was little, so nostalgia works in your favorbut Samsung has also worked hard. The phone is exactly the same as a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 in terms of specifications and its design also does not reveal that it is a special edition, the only difference is that the color is light blue (in case you don’t want to go on vocals, I guess. I don’t).
The theme is in the details. Inside the box we find a transparent case decorated with Doraemon motifs, a magnetic base and a figurine of the famous blue cat. The software is also customized and features power-on animation, wallpapers, icons, and a dynamic lock screen.
I’ve tried both the Flip and the Fold and I think the former makes a lot more sense as a foldable phone, at least for the use I’d give it. Being able to fold the phone in half and place it almost anywhere is something I’ve enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. Add to that the fact that the external screen has grown to take up almost the entire surface (that was one of the things I didn’t like), The Galaxy Z Flip6 has won many points
The downside is that, Like many of these special editions, it is not sold in Europe. Samsung will launch this model only in Hong Kong, where it is already available for pre-purchase for 1,255 dollars in exchange, only in the version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of capacity. If it were sold here, I would think about it, but with the trip to Hong Kong it already costs a lot, so my joy is in a hole.
