Apple's Macs are all up to date (well, except Mac Pro), but the company's screens are a bit obsolete. Good news, however: according to a report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, new models are in preparation, but they will not arrive for at least several months.
He had previously pointed out that Apple works on a new studio screen (named J427) for its publication by the end of 2025 or at the beginning of 2026. In this last report, Gurman reiterates the same information but adds “a torsion” that Apple works on a second display (Codedamed J527). Gurman speculates that the second screen could be “a second model with a screen size or a set of different specifications”, but this is probably a new professional XDR display.
The current studio screen was published two years ago and the Pro Display XDR is over five years old. Although both are excellent products, they do not offer several features that have been developed since their release. For example, the two screens have a maximum cooling rate of 60 Hz, which is acceptable for most people, but 120 Hz (or even 144 Hz) are offered by most high -end third -party screens.
According to reports on Apple's exit calendar, the company plans to publish M5 MacBook Pros in November. This could also include a new Mac Pro, which would be the right time to publish the new screens. However, if you cannot wait, there are many exceptional screens that you can buy now that are more affordable than Apple offers.
