In this unexpected way, I managed to cool my iPhone while charging, instead of heating it

charging, Cool, heating, iPhone, managed, Unexpected

The other day, several readers reminded us of something that is an open secret: when the iPhone is at a very high temperature, if you put it to load instead of uploading it, it downloads. And you can’t do anything. The terminal, as a safety measure, will not conduct electricity, waiting for the peak temperature to drop, then the charging process begins.

It didn’t take me long to check it out. So, desperate to know how to cool down iPhone, I tried something that seemed silly at first but turned out to be a permanent solution.

A base that I leave in the fridge every night

I have an iPhone 14 Pro which I typically charge every 24 hour cycle, usually first thing in the morning. I never wait for it to drop below 10% or exceed the 90% thresholdvia a shortcut.

So good, around 9 a.m. I put it on charge and after half an hour I take it off. But as many of you who wrote to us already know, now in the summer during this period the smartphone reaches a dangerous temperature. It does not burn in the hands, but it is better not to touch it. The solution I found was right under my nose: a cooled base

For this you only need an aluminum base. Almost any metal is an excellent conductor of temperature, but aluminum in particular is better than magnesium and other denser alloys. I know, it sounds silly. But give me the benefit of the doubt. Fworks: every night I leave the rack in the top freezer drawer of my fridge and every morning I take it out and put it on to charge it.

Of course, if you want to try it, remove any type of case or protection that your iPhone has. Otherwise, the cold will dissipate on the protection, not on the back of the iPhone. I live in Toledo and I know what it’s like to be hot, but at least this way I won’t be disconnected.

If it is a little wet, nothing happens. Many iPhone models have sufficiently high degrees of protection. The iPhone 14 Pro is IP67 certified, making it water and dust resistant – up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The XR, for example, is even more resistant, since it has an IP68 certificate.

What I can assure you is that the vote has been resolved for me. The iPhone gets much cooler and never froze or charged. Every morning the base comes out freezing cold and keeps that excessive temperature at bay. In any case, you can use smooth surfaces or with a greater thickness that keeps the cold longer, perhaps even with better results. But it should be noted that you should avoid water or wetting the iPhone surface too much. Safety first.
