The development of the new operating system for our iPhone, iOS 16, was completed last week when engineers in Cupertino they ended their initial development. This asserts Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter, adding that we won’t see any big changes or news in the remaining betas until the official launch.
Warming up for the official launch
This year, Apple will slightly change the operating system launch strategy. Unlike previous years, where iOS and iPadOS launched together to later bring macOS, it looks like this time it will only be iOS 16 (and watchOS 9 and tvOS 16) which will be released in September
“The iOS 16.0 update, which Apple engineers finished working on last week, will be released in September alongside watchOS 9. These updates will match new hardware. The macOS Ventura and iPadOS updates , on the other hand”, are now scheduled for October (after delays related to Stage Manager in the iPad software) to match the new range of hardware.”
Thus, after the official launch of iOS 16, it is to be expected that we will continue the beta cycle, surely with the iOS 16.1 version, which I just brought the rest of the novelties planned for this year. New features like Live Activities to see real-time app info on lock screen or Freeform app.
From the very first beta, it was clear that iOS 16 development was off to a very, very good start. Now, less than three weeks from September 7, the possible launch date of the new iPhone 14, although we continue to see beta versions, development has already borne fruit.
