After several years of waiting, Apple has finally presented the second generation of its popular AirPods Pro, during the “Far Out” event. However, that was not the only good news regarding the capabilities of the famous headphones. but now, we will be notified when we try to pair fake AirPodsthanks to one of the new features available in iOS 16.
With just days to go until the latest version of the iPhone operating system is officially released, the latest release revisions available to developers and public beta users have found evidence that notifications detecting fake parts on iPhone and iPad will also be expanded to alert of non-genuine AirPods. No doubt a wise precaution against the invasion of counterfeit parts in the market, which exist thanks to the popularity of these accessories.
Alert: If the AirPods are fake, Apple detects it
With this update, mistrust of an original pair of AirPods, especially if purchased from an unauthorized site, will cease to exist. Since iOS 16, Apple will display the following message, to warn of counterfeit parts:
These headphones could not be verified as genuine AirPods and may not perform as expected,” the post read.
In this case, Apple will display a “Learn More” button to redirect users to a support article on Apple’s website with more details on how to identify original AirPods. But the decision of “Do not connect” will be up to the user. At least for now, there is no indication that Apple will stop these counterfeit AirPods from working with iPhones and iPads.
The alert will only be generated in the presence of fake AirPods and will not affect similar original devices made by third parties.
This new feature will be available from official launch of iOS 16 next Monday, September 12, as reported by Apple. While, as previously reported, a delay caused iPadOS 16 to wait separately a few days later.
