Apple wants to extend the availability of AirPlay connectivity and renew SharePlay!
This June 5 during WWDC 2023 we will finally know the update of iOS17. But as often happens even hours before the presentation, rumors continue to arrive about the news that will be available in this iPhone software update, which would not present such significant changes as its predecessor, even if everything can happen.
In Mark Gurman’s recent Power On column article, the trusted analyst claims that iOS 17 will offer important updates in SharePlay and AirPlayalthough it will particularly focus on expanding the availability of AirPlay connectivity.
Apple is relaunching these features in iOS 17
SharePlay is a feature that allows iPhone and iPad users to watch TV shows, movies, and listen to music together. Although initially announced in 2021 as part of iOS 15, It received no improvements in the iOS 16 version.
On the other hand, plans with AirPlay include its expansion to hotels and other places that offer televisions and speakers to facilitate transmission of video and audio from Apple devices to other devices
Until now, AirPlay is available for non-Apple deviceslike Roku and smart TVs from Samsung, Vizio and LG.
In the same post, Gurman shared other updates expected with the arrival of iOS 17 like a new diary app, Improvements to Find My and Wallet apps, and further. According to the report, the changes to the Wallet app will be significant although it did not share any additional details.
He also assured that Apple has some very interesting plans for the iPhone lock screen. It is believed that the Cupertino company will introduce new features to the hardware responsible for keeping the screen always on and which could lead to a kind of “intelligent display mode” or “Smart Display”. But unlike the current options, this feature will include a new view with more items that will activate with the iPhone locked and in a horizontal position.
