Apple has just issued a small update to iOS and iPados, bringing the 18.3.1 version. The only change seems to be this safety correction for the limited USB mode.
The limited USB mode is this function where you need to enter your iPhone or iPad motorcycle when you connect it to a computer or other USB device with a data connection, saying that you “trust” this device. Without your access code, the USB device only provides power. Apple says that the correction deals with a physical attack vector against this function:
“A physical attack can deactivate the limited USB mode on a locked device. Apple is aware of a report that this problem may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals. »»
It seems that some very specific people have been targeted with this security defect, and Apple rushed to emit a correction for this very important security measure. Correction or no correction, you should never connect your iPhone to a USB device that you do not know and that you do not trust.
Apple published iOS 18.3 on January 27, but has not yet started the development of iOS 18.4, which should bring several new features of Apple Intelligence, including the new Siri. Apple will release the iPhone SE 4 this week, which could arrive on Tuesday.
To update your iPhone or iPad, go to the Settings application, then the General Tab and Software updateand type Update.
