Rumors around iOS 18 are multiplying very quickly and are primarily focused on Apple’s growing interest in artificial intelligence and possible new AI functions that will reach all devices. However, iPadOS 18 is often relegated to the background because historically iPad and iPhone shared an operating system. a new rumor suggests that Apple could add a Calculator app to iPadOS 18 after 14 years without this app. Apple could therefore put an end to one of the biggest memes around the iPad this year.
We will finally have a Calculator app on iPad with iPadOS 18
Steve Jobs was responsible for introducing the first iPad in history, one of the most important moments in Apple history. It took place on January 27, 2010 and the first system compatible with the iPad was the iPhoneOS 3.2, the operating system prior to iOS, which was renamed in 2010.
From the first operating system compatible with the iPad to the iPadOS 17 itself presented in June last year at WWDC23, Neither version had a Calculator app included, unlike what happened with iOS and the iPhone, which have always had a calculator, an essential element in daily life. However, Apple has never explained the reason for the non-existence of an application for the iPad.

This could change in iPadOS 18 since a source close to Apple, via MacRumors, confirms that the Calculator application will reach this new version which will be announced at WWDC24 next June. It is not clear what “additional” functions will be added to the calculator itself, but they should be integrated into the Notes application, in addition to the integration of a powerful equation and calculation engine, like this was already said for macOS 15.
We’ll see how this all ends. Anyway, Apple will put an end to one of the most repeated memes around the iPad since its origin. It was Apple time!
