We didn’t expect it, and it’s an interesting surprise. It turns out that the new iPhone 14 Pro have a startup tonesomething we’re used to seeing on Macs and its startup chime but not on Apple mobile devices. It is not the same tone as on these Macs, but it is a tone that we will hear both when starting up or shutting down the device.
“¡I will-I will!”
The tone is now heard thanks to the fact that the resource has been found in the source code of iOS and is circulating on social networks:

Don’t get me wrong: this sound is not a new iPhone lock and/or unlock tone. It will ring when we completely turn off the mobile and then restart it (not something we do every day), and apparently it will be something optional to configure from iOS settings.
It does not seem that we are facing a purely aesthetic novelty. Accessibility developer Steven Aquino reviewed this code and assume This is an accessibility feature so people who are blind or visually impaired can easily tell when their iPhone is booting up or shutting down properly.
That boot tone made possible by the A16 chip, and therefore other iPhone models will not be able to have it. I guess over time this will be an option that future generations of iPhones will adopt. I also wouldn’t rule out seeing the same adoption of something like this on the iPad, or even the Apple Watch, albeit in the form of a special vibe.
