After getting our first look at the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro this month, a new leak shows off the iPhone 15 Ultra – and it looks every bit like the high-end premium phone we were hoping for.
According to CAD renderings shared by The well-known Ice Universe leaker, the iPhone 15 Ultra will be the thickest iPhone since the iPhone 4s, with a depth of 8.25mm, a substantial increase from the 7.85mm of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, including the camera bump, Ice Universe Claims
iPhone 15 Ultra: 159.86×76.73×8.25mm
iPhone 14 Pro Max: 160.7mm x 77.6mm x 7.85mm
Ice Universe is unsure whether Apple will brand the new phone as a Pro Max or an Ultra, as both names have been rumored. However, the design shown here is different enough from the iPhone 15 Pro to justify the Ultra name.
According to the images, the camera bump itself will be significantly thinner than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which could make the phone a lot more ergonomic. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is a bit heavy, largely due to its giant camera bump that protrudes more than 4mm from the back cover. Apple may need to make the phone thicker due to rumor that periscope zoom lens will be exclusive to iPhone 15 Ultra
While the screen will likely be the same 6.7-inch as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the bezels appear to be scaled down considerably, giving the phone a more immersive feel. Additionally, Ice Universe claims that the sides will change from stainless steel to a titanium alloy like the Apple Watch Ultra and it won’t have physical buttons, two features that have previously been rumored. And like the rest of the range, the Lightning port will be replaced by USB-C.
Earlier this week, 9to5Mac announced that the iPhone 15 Pro line-exclusive color will be dark red, although it’s unclear if Apple will also offer a titanium-colored shell to match the Apple Watch Ultra.
