Although the two applications belong to Google and Maps is the one that comes by default in Android mobiles (which gives it an advantage from the start), the reality is that the Waze steering wheel is better. For a long time, Google Maps has a community to implement real warnings, but for the moment, it is still far from the activity of the Wazers. That said, Waze has A new function for Android Auto that will make a difference.
Although strictly speaking, this novelty does not surprise us by surprise, as long as Google announced it at the end of November, it was now when it started to be implemented among those who use the application: School zones now appear on screens with Android Auto Y Apple Carplay.
Waze will let you know when you are near a school area
Because in addition to alerts that the community can add so that the rest can make safer and more informed driving, such as traffic jams, road objects, police presence or radars, Waze has certain permanent danger alertslike Badenas or Road Crosss. Being permanent, they always appear on maps and cannot modify them: this is the exclusive mission of card publishers.
After the announcement of the company at the end of 2024, Waze allows these people to make their contributions to improve the cards and, therefore, the experience of the rest, Mark the locations of school zones And the fact in two different ways.
While the self-evolution has been recorded, these alerts by school zones will first appear as an emerging window on the screen informing that you are approaching, so that you know it in advance to maximize your attention to the Environment and be treated in the realization of speed limits and signaling. Then, we will see an icon in the school area where the center is, which will allow you to know its location in detail.
The opinion of the Waze school area is double: with an emerging window and an icon. Via: Auto-evolution
This school opinion It will appear for schools and nurseries And it will even be on the other side of the road, because there is probably a zebra crossing near the place where creatures will potentially pass to reach their center.
In addition, These alerts by school zones will be dynamicS, so that they will only be shown during certain school hours, although it is still in the implementation phase, so at the moment, they can also be shown at night (when schools are closed ).
What happens if I still don't see the alerts of school zones? As we have detailed above, it is an icon and a function that the card editors must add, it is therefore likely that the local community has not yet done it and that standard users cannot TO DO. Of course, you can always try to contact who publishes your region to accelerate everything. In this sense, it is not a question of having updated Waz towards the latest version, although it never hurts to have the most refined experience.
