Google continues its experiment to find out How many ads can you add to the Google TV interface? before users give up. The application has a new advertising banner format, directly in its launcher.
This new advertising banner joins other initiatives such as the redesign of the Apps Only mode or the carousel with giant advertising which appears on both Google TV and Android TV, in a somewhat aggressive attempt to monetize the platform.
10 GOOGLE APPS THAT COULD HAVE SUCCEEDED
No more advertising on Google TV
If you recently purchased a Chromecast with Google TV or a TV with Google TV (or, in some ways, also with Android TV), you will start to see more advertisingsince the company introduces a new type of advertisements integrated directly into the application launcher, among the recommendations.
Content recommendations are one of the main differences between Google TV and Android TV, as they place more importance on what you can see rather than the specific streaming apps in which they are available. What we didn't know was that they would become an excuse to incorporate more advertising. It is precisely among these recommendations that Google has recently started experimenting with informative banners on news such as the integration of Google Home, the connection of Bluetooth headphones or the “Insiders for Google TV” program. NOW They are also used for advertisements.

Sometimes they're “recommendations” and sometimes they're old-fashioned advertisements
You'll see this interspersed in content recommendations content announcements available on streaming platforms (and that Google insists that it is not advertising, but recommendations, even if you do not even use this streaming application), mixed with advertisements themselves, marked as sponsored.
These advertisements interspersed in the recommendations add to the giant ads that appear on the carousel in addition to Google TV and Android TV. Better yet, no matter what you do, there's no way to get rid of it today, not even by paying. The only way out is to change platforms or use a third-party launcher.
