Google is giving up and will finally leave us add birthdays directly to Google Calendaras well as change the birthdays that already appear on our calendars. Although it may seem hard to believe, this has not been possible in the 18 years that Google Calendars have existed.
Google Calendar shows us the birthdays configured in Google Contacts, but now we can create a new type of special event, called a birthdaydirectly from Google Calendar.
All your birthdays, in Google Calendar
There are those who discover the birthdays of their friends and family on Facebook and those who do it on Google Calendar. Neither of these methods is foolproof because the first requires you to have all your knowledge added to Facebook and the second that you have saved them as a contact. This is no longer necessary.
Google Calendar already showed you your friends’ birthdays, but the data was actually saved in your contacts. This is not optimal for those who do not use Google Contacts or who want to see the birthdays of people they do not want to save. Or your dog, for example. The solution was clear from the start and Google finally decided to implement it: that we can Manually add birthdays to Google Calendar.
This new feature is now enabled for all users and will be implemented in a new type of event accessible from the floating button: Birthday. This type of events is simpler than normal events, since it only allows us to add a name, the date and if we want to receive a notification.
Custom birthdays can be created first with Google Calendar on Androidalthough later it will be possible to create and edit them also from the web and iOS versions.
