It’s the new cheap mobile with a giant battery

Those looking for a cheap but full-featured cell phone from a well-known brand have probably thought of going with Samsung’s Galaxy M33; Unsurprisingly, it’s one of the most popular mobiles during the sales period, as it is able to easily reach prices below 300 dollars, and it’s still a Samsung.

However, the Galaxy M33 wasn’t perfect, and admittedly, it lagged the competition in many aspects, like LCD screen or cameras; Moreover, it is the only Samsung model launched last year that does not follow the same design lines, with a very different set of cameras than the Galaxy S that almost all Samsung mobiles already use.

For this reason, it is good news that Samsung has decided to give this mobile some love, and finally put it on par not only with the competition, but also with the rest of the models in its range. This is how the Galaxy M34 was bornwhich is a marked improvement over the last generation.

New cheap Samsung mobile

The Galaxy M34 also presents itself as a low-end mid-range mobile, but with several improvements. Perhaps the most obvious is in the design, which copiate the look of the Galaxy S22 Ultra like all new Samsung phones have done before. Therefore, the camera array is no longer independent, but the cameras come out directly from the back of the device in the upper left corner. It’s a more modern look and it doesn’t look cheap like the M33 did.

The good thing is that the improvement doesn’t stop at a simple matter of appearance: the sensors and lenses have also been modified compared to the last generation. The main sensor is still 50MP, but now includes optical stabilization (OIS) for clearer photos. The 5 Mpx wide angle has been replaced in favor of a new 8 Mpx sensor; and the selfie camera is now 13MP compared to 8MP on the M33. Instead, the 2-megapixel macro sensor hasn’t changed and the 2-megapixel depth sensor has been removed altogether, so there are only three cameras on the rear, not four.

The screen is another aspect that has improved, since it is now based on the same Super AMOLED technology with a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits that other Samsung models use; although that means it’s a bit smaller, 6.5 inches instead of 6.6 inches. At least the 120Hz frequency and Gorilla Glass 5 protection are maintained.

What hasn’t changed at all is the processor, and the Galaxy M34 uses the same octa-core Exynos 1280, accompanied by the same 6GB and 8GB. At least it comes with Android 13 and this device adds to Samsung’s update policy: will receive 4 new versions of Android, and security updates for 5 years, even surpassing the Pixel 7a in this regard. The battery is gigantic, no less than 6,000 mAh, and the fast charge is 25 W; although it remains to be seen if this will be maintained when the device arrives in Europe.

Regarding availability, at the moment Samsung has not confirmed the launch of the M34 in Europe, and it will first be launched in India, where it will have a starting price of 17,000 rupees, or approximately 188 dollars.
