Ivory, the new Mastodon client for iOS, now available

Ivory, the new Tapbots app for use with Mastodon is now available for iPhone and iPadone more step to be able to start using this social network as a real alternative to Twitter.

After what happened in recent weeks with Twitter, which culminated (for now) with the removal of access to third-party applications, Taobots announced that it was leaving Tweetbot, the best application for iOS and Twitter, and announced that it was accelerating the development of Ivory to release it as soon as possible. The time has come, earlier than expected and with fewer features than expected

but we already have the first version and we can say that it did not disappoint.

The aesthetics of the app will look very familiar to anyone who has used Tweetbot, which is a good thing. There are some small differences, like the post button or many icons in the app. Functions such as synchronization between devices could not be missing, large images or customizable themes, including an all-black black mode perfect for OLED screens

. We have the ability to customize where we want to save articles to read later, including Pocket, and of course we can customize the buttons on the bottom bar to place the functions we use the most.

To describe all the features that Ivory includes, I would have to write an article like Viticci’s (which I recommend you read if you have a few minutes on this link). Well, best of all, the app was launched with far fewer functions than its developers had prepared, so it’s safe to say that the best is yet to come. For the moment it is only available on iPhone and iPad, we hope that the Mac version will arrive soon. You can download it for free from the following link, it includes a demo version but you will need to pay a subscription to be able to use it: $1.99 per month or $17.99 per year
