Engineer Jeff Wilcox who played an important role in Apple’s Silicon transition has left Apple to lead a team at Intel.
It seems that the story between Apple and Intel is not over and has taken a very unexpected twist. The bitten apple company lost one of its most important engineers because he decided to leave and join the ranks of Intel.
Although Apple has rewarded its employees for not leaving their position, this reward has not convinced Jeff Wilcox, Senior Associate of the Apple Silicon Transition Team
That’s right, Wilcox left Apple to get a good position within Intel and take responsibility for the SoC architecture of the company’s customers.
Apple loses one of its best engineers to Apple Silicon
Wilcox announced his departure from Apple through his LinkedIn account. He first spoke about leaving Apple after work over eight years in the Mac Systems Architecture team.
“It has been an amazing journey and I couldn’t be prouder of all we accomplished during my time there, culminating with Apple SIlicon’s transition to M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max SOC and systems. I will miss all of my colleagues and friends at Apple very much, but I look forward to the next trip which begins on the first of the year. More soon!
Next, has confirmed its return to IntelWilcox had previously worked there as a senior engineer for PC chipsets from 2010 to 2013.
“I couldn’t be more excited to start working again with the amazing teams out there to help create innovative SOCs. Big things await us,” Wilcox wrote on LinkedIn this week, announcing his return to Intel.
Wilcox isn’t the first big thing Apple loses, as over the past two years the company has lost several of its employees due to offers from other companies. For now, Intel took on one of the main characters who contributed something to Apple Silicon And it could benefit your projects, as they recently showed Intel EVO, the technology that allows better integration of iPhone with Windows.
