Huawei had already surprised us last year with the P60 Pro, in particular thanks to its camera. By 2024, rumors and leaks suggest that the P70 will arrive on the table, innovating both in terms of processor and camera, regardless of the blockades imposed on China.
And it was recently revealed that The SoC that will include the Huawei P70 family, called Kirin 9010, would be manufactured in 3 nanometer lithography and would support 5G networks.
But besides its chip, another promising aspect of the P70 is its camera. Specifically, your wide angle camera.
Huawei continues to innovate, this time in the wide-angle camera
According to famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, reported in GSMArena, the new family Huawei P70 will feature an upgraded camera module with a 1-inch sensor. This is excellent news because even though most smartphones today include a wide-angle sensor, this camera is generally the least favored by manufacturers. Until now, mobile phones used sensors up to 1/1.56 inch for wide angle.
A 1 inch sensor for the wide angle camera would give a considerable gain in image quality for the photos and videos obtained by this sensor, especially in low light conditions.
The changes to the upcoming P70’s camera don’t stop at its size. The new wide-angle camera should also have a 1G6P type lens, that is, made of a layer of glass and 6 layers of plastic, the same type of lens that would be used in the main camera. However, other rumors also mention that it could use a cheaper 7P (7 layers of plastic) type lens for wide angle.
We will have to wait for the presentation of the new P70 to confirm this interesting change in the wide-angle sensor of Huawei’s next flagship. The company presented the P60 in March 2023, so we can expect the new generation of the Asian company’s most premium smartphone to arrive on approximately the same date, with the intention of becoming another heavyweight in the photography section, just like the P60 Pro. .
