LG's mobile catalog is not very wide as it has been reduced for many years to a few phones, especially in the middle and lower classes. However, there are representatives of the best product in the category of recommended mobiles, especially if you have to choose a 5G mobile or one that supports dual display, the brand's invention is intended for its leading cell phones. From these phones we were expecting the update to be Android 10, an update that has already come as a surprise is included.
If you have followed Android 10 news from Q betas you will know that Google has installed an approved desktop mode to emulate a computer screen on an external track, something similar that Samsung does with DeX or Huawei in its PC mode. Desktop mode is standard within Android 10, but so far we didn't know that there was a developer that could use it in their models; something LG did: The LG V50 ThinQ update on Android 10 brings the built-in desktop mode.
A computer on a wired screen
LG's desktop mode included in Android 10 compliments the functionality of the program to increase the smartphone's capabilities without requiring a cable connection (from USB-C to HDMI, for example). As shown in the video, this mode is rendering extended interface with the use of mouse and keyboard. It is allowed to open applications on the big screen and fit well with the concept we have for the Android desktop.
New found Juan Carlos Bagnell and transmitted to one of its Twitch radios. As you can see in the video, the way the new display is integrated is as accurate as it works, so it works:
- When you connect the LG V50 ThinQ to a cable cable, a notification appears on the phone screen: enable screen sharing.
- When switching on the screen to swap the phone offers different options; including one that invites you to use desktop mode (desktop mode).
- Due to desktop mode, the interface shown is not a standard Android, but similar to a computer. This includes the bottom bar with the start menus and shortcuts; with all installed programs accessible by clicking the mouse on the application drawer icon.
In the meantime, desktop mode has appeared on the LG V50 ThinQ with the latest version of Android 10. Hopefully LG will take this approach to most phones when it is updated, at least to those on the high-end list (LG G8s. ThinQ, for example). As pointed out by Juan Carlos Bagnell, desktop performance is very, very powerful. Also offers many opportunities for high-end use as a smartphone: Just plug it in to monitor the computer anywhere.
