If you want to upgrade to an OLED TV, LG is probably one of the best brands to do so. At the very least, it’s one of the most advanced, with a constant evolution of its best performing panels.

But in recent years, even that is not enough; Perhaps that’s why LG has focused on improving its webOS operating system and picture-enhancing technologies for the new generation of TVs shown at CES.
Better picture with LG TVs
The big novelty of LG’s new Z3, G3 and C3 OLED Evo series is inside these TVs, in the new Alpha 9 Gen 6 processor that everyone will be using. This new chip is the most powerful used to date by LG for image processing, demonstrating how important algorithms have become in the enjoyment of content.
It is thanks to these chips that LG televisions can use ‘deep learning’ technology, or automatic learning with Artificial Intelligence, to improve the image and sound quality of the films, series or discs that we play.

AI Picture Pro is able to upscale the image to the panel’s native 4K resolution, now with greater clarity and dynamic tone mapping for more depth and detail in the image. An image that can also be processed to detect the presence of objects in each frame separately, applying a filter to them that simulates the HDR look of real life.
Sound can also benefit from this technology, and the new AI Sound Pro with Alpha 9 processors is able to create virtual 9.1.2 sound using only the audio system already built into the TV itself.
Continuing the software improvements, the new models feature a new version of webOS, LG’s operating system that includes an interface overhaul called All New Home; the company promises that it will be simpler and easier to use, but at the same time it will be more customizable thanks to the use of quick cards that provide direct access to the content we use most. Recommendations are now based on each family member’s story.
New version of webOS for LG TVs
In addition to Alpha 9, one of the advantages of the G3 OLED Evo series is that it implements Brightness Booster Max technology, a new light positioning and control architecture to increase image brightness up to at 70%, depending on the scene. The TV is able to control the brightness of each pixel separately to achieve a more realistic picture. To this we must add that the G3s are the first to get the new design for LG TVs, called One Wall Design, which leaves no visible space between the TV and the wall when we install it.
Finally, LG’s new OLED TVs gain DTS:X compatibility for IMAX-quality multi-channel surround sound, in addition to HDMI 2.1a support with VRR, which eliminates the black screen when switching between a device and another connected to the TV.
