watchOS 9 will be one of the main protagonists of WWDC 2022 next June, and Apple seems to have some surprises in store for us, as in Low power mode, new spheres, new sensors and satellite connection for the Apple Watch.
Apple will add a low power mode to watchOS 9 that will allow certain apps to run with very low battery consumption. It was Mark Gurman who entrusted us with this exclusivity on Bloomberg. The Apple Watch already has a “Reserve” mode in which all we can do is check the time. This mode is activated when the battery of our Apple Watch is low. Apple wants this Reserve mode to expand and allow for more functionality
According to Gourman the spheres will benefit from a renewed look. After years since its launch, the new spheres arrive with a dropper. It is true that last year with the arrival of the Series 7 and a larger screen size, some spheres were updated to take advantage of this additional space, but many of us think that the time is come to give a new look to our Apple Watch. A watch face store is what many of us want, something that seems unlikely Apple is giving us right now, so new faces are always welcome.
When it comes to health monitoring features, the Apple Watch could include a temperature sensor
Finally Gurman tells us that the Apple Watch could include a satellite connection to send emergency and location messages, something very useful in the event of an accident in a place where there is no mobile coverage. Some of these features will require a new Apple Watch, while others will come to current owners through a software update.
