This is a major problem: iPhone battery life is never good enough, and charging, while faster than ever, is never fast enough. Swippitt offers a different approach to battery charging, if you're willing to pay the price.
Swippitt is a two-part system. The first is Swippitt Link, a battery case for iPhone. The second is a toaster-like device called the Swippitt Hub that houses and charges five batteries running in the Link case. When you insert the Swippitt Link-protected iPhone into the Hub, the Link's battery is replaced with one of the Hub's charged batteries. Watch the video below for a demonstration of how it works.
So calling Swippitt a “battery charger” is not accurate, although it does charge batteries, but only those in the Swippitt Link. This is actually a battery system, where the Hub swaps batteries with the Link box and then charges the swapped battery. Replacing the battery only takes a few seconds, which is much faster than waiting for fast charging via USB. The Hub contains five batteries and uses proprietary software to manage the batteries so they are ready for swapping. Since it contains five batteries, a Hub can support up to five users.
Swippitt is compatible with iPhone 14, 15, and 16 models, and the company says it will create new Link cases if Apple introduces new iPhone models.
This charging convenience comes with a hefty price tag, starting at $450 for the Swippitt Hub which measures 13.2 x 11.4 x 6.8 inches (335.6 x 288.7 x 172.5 mm) and $120 for the Swippitt Link box. The device begins shipping in June, and the company is accepting pre-orders at a 30% discount during this week's Consumer Electronic Show.
