Apple Watch Ultra

The next Apple Watch could have new technology on your screen that reduces power consumption and could therefore achieve a significant leap in autonomy, one of the weak points of the Apple Watch.

After summer we will see a new iPhone, but we cannot forget that we will also have a new model of Apple Watch, both in its normal version and in its Ultra version. We are not talking about changes in the design of the new models, but we have been talking for a long time about the new microLED screens which they ultimately will not have despite the rumors. This does not mean that there will not be changes, because it seems that Apple will change the type of screen, which will continue to be OLED type but will use new LTPO technology (Low temperature polycrystalline oxide). This is a technology that complicates panel manufacturing, but allows for greater screen efficiency, which can reduce its refresh rate to 1Hz.

This low refresh rate probably looks familiar to you, since The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have this feature, and that’s because they already use this type of technology on their screens. When the screen is on but idle, the refresh rate drops to 1 Hz to save battery power, so you can always have the information on the screen while minimizing power consumption. Apple wants to do the same thing on Apple Watches. This would provide additional battery life that could drain the battery for normal models for up to two days, and for Ultra models for up to three days. It wouldn’t be an extraordinary leap in terms of autonomy, but it would be a plus that users will surely appreciate. Or maybe it will serve to maintain the same autonomy but provide it with new features, which is what Apple has accustomed us to.
